Pregnancy

Trustworthy health information for pregnancy, birth and baby including your public hospital and private hospital care options with a doctor or midwife.

Bleeding in pregnancy can definitely be scary. One in four women will bleed in early pregnancy, many of whom go on to have a healthy baby.
Any blood in pregnancy can be alarming and should always be discussed with your care provider. Very light spotting can occur early in your pregnancy (roughly when your period is due) and in most cases, this will be implantation bleeding.
Hyperemisis Gravidarum (HG) can be a confronting diagnosis and for those currently suffering, the months to come may feel like a daunting unknown.
In pregnancy, hydration is essential for your general health and wellbeing and no doubt your care provider will mention it whenever they see you.
The days at the end of your pregnancy as you wait for labour to begin are unlike any other.
Being aware of your baby’s movements, including the pattern of their movements, is vital to understanding their wellbeing. If you notice your baby’s movements have changed in frequency or strength, contact your care provider immediately.
Ectopic means out of place, hence an ectopic pregnancy is one that develops outside the womb. Most ectopic pregnancies occur in the fallopian tube and can occasionally occur in the ovary
A doula is not a health professional. Their primary role is to support birthing women and their birth partners by offering information, advocating for your intentions and needs, and providing physical and emotional support.
