After trying to conceive for a year and navigating several early losses, Chloe describes how the powerful combination of medical support and spiritual connection – including a transformative womb cleanse ceremony – preceded her positive pregnancy test. She speaks candidly about the delicate balance of sharing her journey with her large online community (over a million followers on TikTok) while protecting the sacred space of early pregnancy.
In choosing her care team, Chloe shares how discovering private midwife Cassie through Instagram helped her feel supported throughout her pregnancy. Having absorbed countless birth stories through podcasts and birth documentaries, she knew she wanted a home birth once she realised those were the stories that moved her to tears. With remarkable attention to detail, she and Patrick created the perfect environment for welcoming their daughter Violet.
At exactly 38 weeks, after an intuitive feeling that “today was the day,” Chloe began her labour journey. She describes waking up with an overwhelming urge to prepare their space, changing the bed sheets, and meticulously cleaning their home despite her husband Patrick’s gentle suggestions to rest. After noticing her bloody show at 10:30 am, she experienced her waters breaking with an audible pop at 1:30 pm – dramatically soaking those freshly changed sheets.
In a moment that perfectly captures the surreal nature of early labour, Chloe filmed her weekly “bump update” for her million TikTok followers at around 2:40 pm, keeping her labour a secret from her audience. She spent these early hours swaying on her birth ball, using her TENS machine, and creating the perfect birth playlist. Her midwife Cassie arrived for what was meant to be a quick wellness check, but quickly recognised that labour was progressing swiftly.
The birth pool became Chloe’s sanctuary, with Patrick lighting candles and playing their carefully curated music. She describes entering an almost meditative state, eyes closed, squeezing ice cubes through contractions – a pain management technique she’d absorbed from birth stories. Her birth team worked seamlessly around her, with her doula Rosie providing feminine energy that perfectly complemented Patrick’s grounding presence.
As her labour intensified, Chloe experienced the fetal ejection reflex, describing it as a partnership between herself and Violet rather than something she was doing alone. With no vaginal examinations throughout her labour, she trusted her body’s signals completely. The birth reached its crescendo with what Chloe describes as a primal roar that “drenched the room,” followed by the peaceful water birth of Violet at 5:45 pm – just three hours after that final bump update video.
The placenta birth proved equally gentle and physiological, with Violet instinctively helping by feeding at the breast. In fascinating detail, the placenta emerged still partially in the amniotic sac, suggesting Violet had simply created a small opening for her entrance into the world. The whole experience, monitored by her smart ring, showed her heart rate remained remarkably steady throughout – a testament to the calm, supported environment she’d created.
The final weeks of pregnancy were marked by the bittersweet passing of Chloe’s aunt, adding an extra layer of meaning to Violet’s arrival. She speaks movingly about navigating grief while preparing for birth, and how closing that chapter seemed to create space for her daughter’s entrance earthside. Now in the early postpartum period, she reflects on the profound joy of motherhood while thoughtfully navigating how to share their story while protecting their privacy.
Throughout the episode, Chloe emphasises how thorough preparation, choosing the right support team, and trusting her instincts led to her beautiful birth experience. Her story offers hope and practical wisdom for others planning home births or healing from loss while highlighting how each birth journey is unique and worthy of protection and celebration.
